CANCELLED: Barbershop Music Festival 2020
With our deep regret, we hereby announce that the Barbershop Music Festival 2020 will not be held in April. Also the alternative date from September 4 to 6, 2020 will not take place. This also applies to the opening events "Welcome Party" and "Experimental Stage". Information on the refund process can be found in the FAQs and will be sent to visitors and participants by e-mail in the coming days.

Come to the biggest barbershop event in Germany. A Cappella Explosion is the motto under which numerous choruses and quartets from Germany and around the world will gather at the Konzerthaus Dortmund from 2 to 5 April 2020. Experience the German Championships for Barbershop Choruses and Quartets as well as the World Championships for Mixed Barbershop Choruses and Quartets. Let yourself be carried away by the intoxicating performances and the rich a cappella sound of the Barbershop Harmony singing.

Experimental Stage
The experimental stage is aimed at all choruses who want to try out barbershop singing and who want to present themselves to our certified barbershop jury. The experimental stage deliberately refrains from prior qualification, placement and publication of the results. Here, to be part of it is everything.
Those who want to present themselves in front of our certified jury without having to qualify have the opportunity to give their best on the experimental stage. Subsequently, all participating choruses will receive evaluations. The jury will explain the strengths and weaknesses of the chorus and how it can develop in the future. All choruses that have successfully registered can take part. A membership at BinG! is not necessary.
The rules according to which the certified jury evaluates the performances can be found in the Rules and Regulations for German Barbershop Competitions.
The experimental stage - unlike all other events of the Barbershop Music Festival 2020 - will take place at the Orchesterzentrum | NRW.
The experimental stage - unlike all other events of the Barbershop Music Festival 2020 - does NOT take place in the Konzerthaus Dortmund.
Depending on the number of registrations, the venue will be determined in mid-December. The venue will be located in the centre of Dortmund.
When booking further tickets and registrations for the Barbershop Music Festival 2020, participants of the experimental stage will receive their entry fee credited.
Admission to the experimental stage is free for visitors.
Chorus Competition
Saturday, 4. April 2020
Barbershop choruses from all over Germany will compete in the championship on Saturday, April 4, 2020. The contestants are aiming for a rich a cappella sound and convincing performances and thus a high score. Be curious to see which of the choruses will sing for the title of Germany's best barbershop chorus and be inspired by the experienced community of the German barbershop scene. Don't miss this fun and celebrate with us the festival of the barbershop choruses.
Qualification: If more than 14 choruses register to participate, there will be a preliminary decision. This will be announced after the registration deadline. The preliminary decision can be made by filming.
Quartet Competiton
Friday, 3. April 2020
On Friday, April 3, 2020, Germany's best barbershop quartets will sing for the title of master of the German barbershop quartets. Let yourself be enveloped by crystal clear chords and convincing performances and follow us into the world of Barbershop music.
You can qualify at the Coesfeld Cup. This will take place in October 2019 as the opening event of the Harmony College statt. You can take part in this qualifying competition without taking part in the Harmony College workshop weekend. More information on qualification can be found in the rules and regulations for German Barbershop Competitions.
Already qualified: SomeSing (mixed), LaBoom (women) and Kavaliersdelikt (men).
World Mixed Barbershop Competitions
BinG! is the home of mixed barbershop singing. Now the whole world takes part! Due to the rapidly increasing number of mixed barbershop groups worldwide, the international championship for mixed ensembles held by BinG! is also growing and so the fifth world championship for mixed barbershop quartets and the second world championship for mixed barbershop choruses will take place in April 2020.

On Sunday, April 5, 2020, the second World Championship of Mixed Barbershop Choruses will take place. The best mixed barbershop choruses in the world compete here.
Qualification: If there is a barbershop organisation in a country, interested choirs can qualify via a competition organised by this organisation. If no such competition takes place in a country, choruses can also qualify by video for the representation of their country. More information about the selection procedure and with which placement one qualifies for participation in the World Mixed choruses can be found in the rules and regulations for World Mixed Competitions.

Discount
Discounted tickets are available for young people (< 26 years) as well as for people with disabilities. If persons with disabilities can prove that they need an accompanying person, the accompanying person receives free admission.
