It happened 22 years ago. A group of singing enthusiasts fought their way through adverse winter weather to the West Palatinate to take part in a barbershop-style singing workshop.

We were so enthusiastic about it that we formed a choir after the workshop. We called ourselves Four (originally barbershop was sung by quartets) and More (because there were more than four of us). We were also the first mixed barbershop choir in Germany! That's why 4'n More proudly took part in the first international competition for mixed barbershop choirs in 2018.

Highlights of our choir life were concerts with internationally renowned choirs and gold medal winners. For example, we were visited by Toronto Northern Lights from Canada and Whale City Sound from Holland. Barbershop Blend also came to the Palatinate for a concert. We have a long-standing friendship with the Sunshine Gospels from Tegernsee. Mutual visits with great joint concerts were further highlights in our choir history. They will be visiting us again in spring 2025.

4'n More bravely withstood the death of the choir during the pandemic, kept choir life going with sociable video conferences (there was always something or someone to raise a glass to), rehearsed outdoors, rehearsed via video, bravely defied the draught with the windows wide open, coped with the choirmaster leaving and found a worthy successor in her son.

And who is OhrFest?  There were still people at 4'n More who couldn't get enough of singing. In 2002, they founded a “self-help group”, as our choirmaster called it at the time. The self-help group was named OhrFest and to this day consists mainly of (ex) 4'n More members. We have already sung many concerts together and are looking forward to doing so again on our 22nd anniversary.
